Adding a Ministry
Learn how to create a new ministry in Ministry Steward to represent a service area in your organization.
Ministries represent the different service areas in your organization — things like Worship Team, Ushers, or Children's Ministry. You need to create ministries before you can assign volunteers or set up event staffing requirements.
Prerequisites
- You must be an Owner or Administrator of the organization.
Steps
- Open the Ministries page from the left sidebar.
- Click the Add Ministry button in the top-right corner of the Ministries card.
- Fill in the form:
- Ministry Name (required) — a descriptive name, e.g. "Worship Team" or "Ushers."
- Description (optional) — a brief summary of what this ministry does.
- Allow Overflow Assignment — enable this if you want to allow scheduling more volunteers than the computed need. This is useful for ministries where extra help is welcome.
- Click Create Ministry.
A confirmation message will appear and the new ministry will show up in the table.
After Creating a Ministry
Once a ministry exists, you can manage it directly from the ministries table:
- Manage Volunteers — click the people icon to add or remove which volunteers are qualified for this ministry. Only qualified volunteers can be scheduled for it.
- Manage Ministry Lead — click the shield icon to designate a ministry lead who can oversee scheduling for this ministry.
- Edit — click the pencil icon to update the name, description, or overflow setting.
- Delete — click the trash icon to permanently remove the ministry.
Next Steps
- Add volunteers who are qualified for this ministry.
- Schedule an event that requires this ministry.
